The House on the Hill

In a small town south of the River Between, there  rise a hill that over look the town of Southgate. And on top this hill stand a house, it was a solid one story building with a run down roofing and windows that have been broken for generation yet the house has always been there. Tom the oldest man in Southgate who is reputed to be more than one hundred and fifty years claimed the house has been so right from when he was a kid and no one who venture into the woods by the house on the hill ever return.

The house on the hill is sometimes used to scared children so they can behave and be in bed when told to, there are so many mystery about the house that really gives goosebumps but so many are afraid to investigate or find out the actual story about the house on the hill.

Dan dad was a small time lawyer in the city of River Run more the two thousand kilometers from the town of Southgate. They live in a modest middle class home and his mum was a school teacher in the local school. Until the scandal struck and Dan dad had to leave the town to somewhere unknown and to place no one knows about him. Which brought them to the small town of Southgate.

Anna is the beautiful daughter of Mr Edward the local preacher in the town of Southgate, she is known by everyone and it was also known she live a double life, Anna knew what they town folk think about her, but she don't care, she is just a carefree lady who knows what she want and go for it. People think she is promiscuous but she know herself and no one in town can say they have had a thing with her. On this fateful day she was just having her daily walk when she came in contact with Dan.

Dawn came and the people of Southgate were woken early by a wailing cry coming from center of  town, and everyone hurry to know what was happening. Dan saw Anna and moved toward her.

Edward step in as the town preacher everyone also look to him in matters that affect the town.

But Mrs Smith was dead to his words and she cry more on the mention of her husband and son, while everyone was focus on her and trying to comfort her, Mr Smith came back and on seeing him she ran to him.

No idea, Jay came back home all buffy and worked on and refused to say what happened when I asked him about his appearance. He just went into his room and slam the door shut, then later I heard him talking with someone at night but I couldn't make out their words. It was this morning while [ying to start the day I saw Jay and two others going up the hill and I ran after them calling his name but he just....turn look at me and wave. Before I could reach him, he was into the house on the hill.

As the sun began to rise higher in the sky, casting its warm glow over the town of Southgate, Dan and Anna exchanged worried glances. The mysterious events surrounding the house on the hill seemed to be escalating, and now with Jay's disappearance, the entire town was on edge.

Anna turned to Dan, her voice filled with concern. "We have to do something, Dan. We can't just stand by and watch this happen to our friends and neighbors."

Randy is a brilliant promising young man in his late twenties who believe the world is at his feet and he can get on and do as he likes. Hence his struggle to gain admission, which finally came to reality one faithful day after weeks of waiting to hear from the school after their regular post university examination.

Randy got the SMS and he thought it was a prank of just one of those typical scammers, so he never care to check until his friend Bayo called him and told him of his admission and if he Randy has received a text too? Randy was excited and shout that he has but was not sure since he thought it was a typical scammers. So Randy went out to a cybercafe to check and low and behold it was genuine for he has just been given admission to study medicine his dream course in one of the most prestigious university in Nigeria. After printing out his admission letter and other document he went home to announce the good news. Right at the door step he meet his mum and dad going out and he can't contain his joy and bust out with a big grin on his face which his mum noticed at ones.

Ken is a budding media guy with one of the best media station in the country, he is smart and he knows the in and out of how to survive in a dangerous and competitive profession as a news presenter. Since social media has come to stay, it is getting hard these days as everyone with camera phone is a potential reporter and buying of news, picture or video is not cool knowing you are getting second hand report. On this particular Monday morning he was on duty monitoring happening around the third mainland bridge after the federal government has announced about closures for a particular weeks to carry out repairs. While he was in the station getting feedback from people on ground. And that is how he get to see Jasmine flashing on his screen and she is about to jump into the lagoon.

Chapter 1.

The friends

 Kanji lives a simple life as a sales executive with a retailer company, he lives in a modest one bedroom flat in the highbrow area in town. He doesn't have much friends and live as an introvert with just a few social parties he struggle to attend either drag out by friends or by the company he works for. He lack nothing and can get whatever he wants, money is not his problem, because he knows how wealthy he is, but can't say because he is running from his past and live a life known to no one.

Kanji train everyday before and after work in karate, sword fight, hand to hand combat, arrow shooting and how to be faster than the average human. He knows a time will come for his past to come calling and he intend to be prepared. 

Sharon is Kanji friend and people think they are dating which they laugh off, Sharon works as an event planner and due to her skills she is the number one event manager that the elite in society patronize. She has three close friends Linda, Sarah, Deborah popularly called Debbie. These four friends are so closed yet they don't know Sharon and Kanji are not dating thinking Sharon is playing with their intelligence. 

Linda is the bold one among her friends and she is the one with iron heart, she sleep with men now and then and don't care what people say about her, she go for what she wants and she gets it, no matter how longs it takes and she is well known by all as a woman who knows how to used her power to get any job done and in no time.

 Sarah is the peace maker among the friends and she is always calm, she has a boyfriend who cheats on her with every opportunity he has, she knows but she is hoping he will change and marry her when he is ready about it or when he gets tired of his cheating lifestyles, she has been advised by her friend Linda to leave but Sarah is adamant about it and don't want to hear such talk again.

Debbie is smart and came from a humble background, her dad is a plumber and she is the first daughter. She work hard to send money to her family for food and school fees of her younger ones. She work as a class room teacher and she is very shy when it comes to dating due to her experience she has vow to wait till a serious man who will marry her comes.

On this particular morning while starting the day activities in the office, Kanji got one of the message he has been dreading about, knowing he can never say No or turn down such for it is a letter coming from his home and the royal seat at that, for his father the king has summon him back home to play a role in his sister upcoming wedding to a distant prince from another kingdom. He left work going home without even a word to anyone for he was thinking ten years was not even enough and yet he is going back to a place he doesn't like or want to be due to the hard life and the many challenges as a prince, he chose to leave everything for his brother Bond, who want everything and who is the eldest. While he was thinking all this there came a knock on his door, when he open it was Sharon.

What is wrong with you and why are you sitting in the dark? I was at your place of work and was told you just left without a word. Kanji! What is wrong?

He is coming home finally the King bark. While Queen Lysandra was weeping, Bond was open mouthed while Lisa was smiling.

Now we will be complete as a family and to hell with who ever try our family the King turn to Bond prepared to welcome your brother, chose the best soldiers and make it a secret, escort him home safely and you too be safe out there for it is not a safe trip.

Debbie was amazed at what she saw in the path, she guess it was early and a good sign since there are birds singing, in most of the movie she had watched silence is a bad thing which says there is a greater evil. She was glad at the fast pace Kanji keep and she thought she can understand his reason, knowing how he is says a lot right now so she try not to complain and keep matching his pace.
