The Price Of Blood

THE PRICE OF BLOOD" by Douye Soroh. It features a grieving man with a glowing spirit emerging from his chest, standing over a screaming witch with bleeding eyes and a cursed bottle. In the misty, haunted forest background, the ghostly figures of an old man and a woman with a baby look on under a blood-red moon. Author's Note: I spend three hours writing this story, please share. The Confession Sam is in love with Juliet, and everyone knew about it. He doesn't hide his feelings; he would stand in the center of the street and scream, "I'M IN LOVE WITH JULIET!" Everyone who heard him would just shake their head. We all know love can make someone do crazy things. Let me give an insight into how I do my own crazy stuff for love; I will get back to Sam and Juliet later. So, I saw this girl, and all my biological hormones started doing flip-flops. She was so beautiful and dark, too; she had that smile that lit the world around her, and to cap it all, she had what...

She Chose the Wrong Man (Until She Didn't)

A crack and broken heart

"I'd give you the world if it was in my power," Damon told Elena. "I'd bend it to my will and shape it just for you. I'd make sure the whole world was at your feet and you stood above it all."

Those were the words Damon said to Elena. He'd been in love with her from the very first day he saw her. He couldn't stop wondering what it would feel like to have her love him back — to hold her in his arms, to kiss those full lips. He'd dreamed about her countless times. And when he watched the way her hips swayed as she walked, he had to press a hand to his groin and mutter under his breath, "Calm down. It'll be yours one day. Just endure the torture, and one day you'll be rewarded."

"What about the people in the world?" she asked.

"They can be your toys, your playthings," he growled.

"I don't know," she said, looking at him. "I've never seen you as anything more than a friend. I just can't picture us dating or getting intimate. I've never once thought of you that way."

Her words hit Damon like hot lava pouring into his gut.

"How can you say that?" he said, his voice almost whining. "We've practically kissed plenty of times, and you told me I've been the only one to ever grab your ass or kiss you."

"Yeah, you've been the only one to do that," she said, staring down at her feet. "But I've never once thought about getting undressed with you."

"So you don't like me? You don't love me?" His voice choked.

"I never said that. I just haven't thought of you in that way."

"Is there someone else?" he asked, dreading the answer.

"Yeah. There's a guy I'm interested in. I've been considering his proposal."

It hit Damon like a meteor from deep space. He inhaled sharply and exhaled what felt like thick smoke — though he wasn't even smoking. It was just the raw hurt burning in his chest.

"How can you do this to me?" He tried not to whine, but his voice cracked anyway. "I love you. I've done everything to make you happy. I've sacrificed for your family, and I'd do more. Please, just give me a chance."

"I can't. I already promised Andy."

"Andy?"

"Yeah. He's the guy I've been considering."

"But he doesn't care about you or your family. He's never even met them. He hasn't done anything to change your life. Why him?"

"I don't know. I just like the way he talks, the way he says certain things."

"That's bullshit," he snarled. "How can you think like a kid?"

"Are you calling me immature?"

"Yes. You're falling for a guy who doesn't care about you — only what's between your legs. And once he's done, he'll move on to the next target."

She turned on him, furious. "Are you saying you don't want what's between my legs too?"

He scratched his head. "Sure, I want it."

"So what's the difference between you and Andy?"

"Stop saying his name. The difference is I care, and he doesn't. I can give you anything you ask for — and I've been doing that without complaint. All I want is for us to make it official. All I want is for you to be mine so I can do even better."

"Better at what?"

"Improving your life. And your family's."

"Why not do it now?"

"And let Andy enjoy the fruits of my labor?"

The argument went back and forth like that, frustrating Damon to no end. She couldn't see how much he cared, how he'd do anything for her. Finally, she stormed off angrily.

He sighed and wondered why women always went for the guys who didn't care, while treating the ones who did like trash. It's what caused so many problems in relationships these days. Women chased the "exciting" guys — the ones who didn't give a damn, who just wanted sex. Then when a decent, hardworking man who truly cared came along, they laughed and said he wasn't their type. And the ones who were their type ended up breaking their hearts. Then they'd say, "All men are the same."

He walked home wondering how he'd ever win Elena's heart. She was perfect for him, even if she couldn't see it yet. He hoped time would soften her and give him a chance.

Why do women always choose the wrong men and then blame all men? Why not give the caring guy a shot? Why pick the chaos of club guys bragging about conquests over a quiet, hardworking man who'd rather have a private dinner at home with you? Sure, go out sometimes — but why choose drama over calm in your prime?

How can you pick a guy with no job, no legal hustle, full of excuses, over one who works hard and can provide?

These thoughts swirled in Damon's head as he got home, sat down, and wondered if he'd ever win Elena.

Love really isn't for the faint of heart, he muttered, then lay down to sleep.

About two weeks later, Elena texted and asked to meet at their usual spot. He was in a meeting but rescheduled immediately, hoping for good news. He arrived on time and saw her sitting by the window. He watched her with hungry eyes — he wouldn't have minded taking her right there, damn what anyone thought. He hurried over and sat with a sigh.

"What is this about?" he asked, skipping the gentleman act.

"I need to ask you something important."

"Sure, go ahead," he said, leaning forward.

"Can you explain why a guy wouldn't call or text back? Why he wouldn't check on you, only remembering you when you reach out — and it's always you calling first?"

"Is this why you called me here?" he asked, anger rising, though he cooled when he noticed her cleavage.

"Yes. What did you expect?"

"I thought you'd finally come to your senses and seen that I care about you more than that fool you call a boyfriend. You're running from me, yet I've been taking care of your family. That idiot has done nothing, and here you are complaining about lack of communication."

"Just tell me what it means."

He sighed and shook his head. Sometimes he wondered if she was still a kid at twenty-seven — the way she acted pained him, knowing he could only pray she changed, and not for the worse if that fool got his way.

"It means he doesn't care about you. That's it."

"But why? He's the one who asked me out."

"Sure. Did you give him what he wanted?"

"How did you know?"

"That's all guys like him want. Nothing else."

"And you?"

"I want it too. But I'd stay. I'd do more. Because I care."

"Hmm. Are you sure?"

"Of course. A million times over."

"And if I gave it to you tonight?"

Damon forgot how to breathe. His manhood stirred, and he clamped his legs to quiet it. "Not now," he muttered so low she didn't hear, her eyes locked on his.

"I'd cherish you and worship the ground you walk on if you gave it to me tonight," he said, sweat beading on his brow. This was what he'd waited for. A patient dog eats the fattest bone — and his was about to feast.

"That's good enough," she said, taking his hand and looking into his eyes. "I've never done it before. You're the only one who's ever kissed me or touched me that way. No one else. If I give you my virginity, and you betray or cheat on me, I'll kill you before I kill myself," she said with such fierceness he shuddered.

"Then let's get married to seal it," he said, conviction burning.

"Are you proposing?"

"YES. Elena, will you marry me?"

"YES," she said.

They held hands as he stood with a grin.

"What?" she asked.

"I believe I have a duty to perform tonight."

She laughed and covered her eyes shyly — a gesture that thrilled him. He roared, "All bills on me tonight!"

That's how Damon, through patience, won his love Elena — even while she dated another guy. He never gave up, knowing one day she'd be his. And finally, she agreed to be his wife.

It proves a patient dog really eats the fattest bone.

If you're in love with a woman who's in love with someone else, let me know — I have a solution for you.

Love is a magical power that binds two strangers together. It is something that can happen anytime, any day — all we need is that one person who will love us back. Love is the foundation of our very soul; it is the wind that blows through us, and it is what makes our hearts beat faster. Loving someone is like having freedom; it is like flying through the cosmos. It is a force that defies the laws of physics.

Don't be shy to love, and don't be shy to express your heartfelt desire to the one you admire. Don't let your love grow cold — let it be warm and inviting. Keep loving, and be loved in return.

The Journey

The town One faithful sunny morning in one of the South West States, my friend and I were about to visit the bank, which is about five hundred kilometers from where we were staying. It was a beautiful morning with the sun just rising above the mountain peaks. This is a town surrounded by mountains, and you can guess the fun when the sun sets. There are so many fun spots and hiking with a lot of people doing picnics at the very top of the mountain. I remember one day I climbed the mountain for the very first time, and boy, I was just inexperienced and without any gear. It was one of the most difficult climbs, and I was afraid I would fall because it was just my feet and my hands doing the climbing with no rope or any safety gear. My thighs were burning me, and my throat was as dry as the desert, but I couldn't give up because I would fall if I made one single mistake. I had tears in my eyes, but I pressed on with determination, and my friend was encouraging me, but I guess he was ...
