Teenage Fantasy

Teen Fantasy

It was a cold morning in the Port-Harcourt slum, where unserious teens lazed about, seemingly without a care beyond their peer group.

"Oh boy, are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Bobby asked, nodding towards a girl across the street.

"What are you seeing, Bobby?" one of the five boys asked. A slap on the back of his head jolted Bobby out of his daydreaming. "Oh, that hurt," he complained.

"What are you googling about?" the same boy asked again.

"The babe over there," Bobby said, still nodding at the girl.

The boy looked at the girl Bobby was referring to and nodded, "Yeah, she's pretty."

"Pretty?" Bobby asked with an incredulous look. "That girl is dangerously beautiful!" His raised voice drew the attention of the other three boys.

"Why are you yapping, Bobby?" one of the boys asked.

"Hey Kirk, whatcha think of that dame over there?" Bobby asked, still nodding at the girl.

Kirk looked at the girl and said, "She's average." This prompted the first guy to laugh. "Average, did you hear that, Bobby?" he said, still laughing.

"You don't know what you're talking about," Bobby said. "That dame is like a bomb about to explode."

"Well, I prefer Angelina Jolie," Kirk said.

"Wait, you're dreaming of the movie star?" Carlos asked.

"Sure, it's a free world," Kirk said with a grin.

"As for me, I prefer Jennifer Lawrence." The first guy said with his eyes closed, imagining Jennifer Lawrence in front of him. He inhaled deeply and continued, "Did you see her shape in X-Men? She's a modern-day goddess."

"Joe's always got his head in the clouds," Bobby said, nudging the first guy with a grin.

"Benny, what about you? Anything rattling around in that brain of yours?" Bobby asked, turning to the fifth guy in their circle.

Benny hesitated, glancing around at his friends. "Guys, I don't know... it's just been a weird thought lately."

"Spill it, man," Joe urged, clapping Benny on the shoulder with a curious look.

"Well," Benny began, meeting their gazes, "I've been thinking... Chris Hemsworth."

A beat of silence hung in the air. Then: "WHAT?!" The exclamation burst from the group, a chorus of disbelief. Bobby took a step back, his eyes wide. "Did I hear that right?"

"Hey, it's a free world, right?" Benny shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant.

"Chris Hemsworth?" Bobby repeated, as if the name itself was a foreign language.

"Yeah."

Carlos's eyebrows shot up. "Oh, man... are you gay?"

"Hell no," Benny retorted, but he could practically feel the suspicion radiating from his friends. He saw Joe subtly inch away, and Bobby instinctively patted his own rear.

"Holy mother of... I never would have guessed," Kirk sputtered, shaking his head. "So, why Hemsworth?"

"I don't know," Benny admitted, a slight flush creeping up his neck. "He's just... amazing. All that muscle..."

The others stared at him, a mixture of confusion and amusement on their faces. Benny, growing increasingly uncomfortable, finally blurted out, "What?"

They ignored him. Joe, shaking his head, said, "Have you seen Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games? That woman is incredible. Beauty, brains, and a figure that defies the laws of imagination."

"That's a load of crap," Carlos scoffed, rolling his eyes. "How can a figure destroy imagination when you're still, you know, imagining?"

"It's a big word, man," Joe mumbled, shrugging.

"Alright, alright, both of you chill," Kirk interjected. "Didn't you guys watch Tomb Raider and Original Sin?"

"Yeah, so?" Benny asked, still trying to understand the sudden shift in conversation.

"Angelina Jolie, man! She was smoking hot, am I right?"

"For you, maybe," Benny said, smiling.

Carlos smirked. "Right. Just like Chris Hemsworth is smoking hot for you, and not for us."
